Rep. Capito could be in a tough spot
http://www.dailymail.com/news/News/2005040420/

President Bush’s stump for Social Security reform in Parkersburg this week might put Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito in a tough spot.

Capito has been the president’s biggest backer during his many trips to West Virginia, but she is officially on the fence about Social Security reform, a tough issue where she risks drawing the ire of the AARP in a state with one of the country’s oldest populations.

She won’t have to risk the symbolism of standing directly beside the president as he pushes for reform in Parkersburg. Her staff says Capito has a previously scheduled commitment that morning — meeting with West Virginia doctors in Washington, D.C., on medical malpractice.

this could be damning especially with the Pukes pushing her to run against Byrd

1. A previously scheduled meeting trumps meeting with POTUS?
Right. What a smarmy way of getting out of taking a stand.

3. Capito is on the list of people
to call about allowing amendments to the bankruptcy bill because she is on a committee that votes on that issue tomorrow.

I had already called her office before I read this post. I argued that West Virginia has a lot of older people and a lot of military people and that there should be an opportunity to have amendments to protect these groups in the bankruptcy bill.

I didn't realize how effective those arguments were until I read this post.

I much prefer to read about DUers making this kind of call to hearing DUers just complain.
