AP : School near Schiavo's hospice sending students elsewhere
PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (AP) -- Students enrolled at the elementary school near the hospice where Terri Schiavo lives will be sent to other facilities this week, a move designed to keep the children away from the gauntlet of media and protesters covering the ongoing saga.

The 600 students at Cross Bayou Elementary School will be split among three neighboring schools, said Pinellas County schools spokesman Ron Stone. The school is located just west of the Woodside Hospice, where protesters and media have gathered since Terri Schiavo's feeding tube was removed March 18.

That was the school's last day of classes; it was closed last week for spring break. Many students were absent on the day the tube was pulled, something school officials attributed to the frenzy outside the hospice.

"It is felt that the unstable and highly emotional environment that currently exists at the Woodside Hospice and the security measures currently in place by law enforcement will make it difficult for school to function normally," schools superintendent Clayton Wilcox said in a statement Sunday.

3. is this simply precautionary or do they know something...
...that we don't?

I'm probably just being paranoid, but are they expecting some kind of violent outburst when this thing comes to a head?

7. school is supposed to be--->
a safe place for children.

This school is not a safe place now, for children, or adults. I cannot understand why these protestor freaks are allowed to do this in front of another place that is to be peaceful and near a place that is to be safe.
Now, that is something the 'government' should prevent.
How many children and adults are being affected by this freakish protest?

10. How much is THIS little bit of additional craziness going to cost?
and

There's not enough chaos already? Why disrupt the lives of over 600 MORE families for the sake of a few protesters?

Are the children going to be integrated/stuffed into existing classes at the other schools, or are they going to be set up in gyms or lunchrooms? Has anyone heard how the other schools are handling this influx? What about desks and supplies? After school programs? Special needs students? How much time is this busing going to add to their schoolday? And the parents? And the teachers- are they being uprooted, too?

Spring break was last week and it's hard enough to settle back into routine for the first few days back, and now this complete clusterf*ck has to be contended with as well?

Why not just move the protesters out? Put them in a zoned and cordoned off area somewhere where they can continue the circus?

Wouldn't this just make more sense all the way around?

This is nuts.

If trailerhitch Jesus jumped the shark, this stuffs it and hangs it on the wall as a trophy.

sorry for the rant. my hackles are raised.

............It is uncertain, Stone said, when the students will return to Cross Bayou.

Some students will spend the day at Stavros. The rest will be transported to either Walsingham or Southern Oak elementary schools, which are adjacent to the institute. Teachers and staff will go with them.
...............children would begin the day at the Gus A. Stavros Institute, 12090 Starkey Road, Largo, about 4 miles from the school.
snip

Administrators tried to take everything into consideration in planning the relocation, Ron Stone said. Arrangements have been made for children who attend before- and after-school programs to receive the same care at one of the other schools.

Pinellas Park police officers, who closed the narrow, dead-end street to traffic about 2:30 p.m. Sunday, planned to be on hand early this morning to direct parents who did not receive the principal's message.

16. Probably a good idea before some armed life lover ...
starts shooting up the place.

Eventually we are going to have to deal with this crowd and it's going to be ugly and bloody. They refuse to accept any position other than their own. They won't quit and they won't go away.
