Bush decries "vigilantes," for reasonable immigration policy
http://www.newkerala.com/news-daily/news/features.php?action=fullnews&id=89949

{U.S. News} Washington, Mar 24 : President George W Bush has decried efforts by armed private groups to act as self-appointed policemen to bar illegal Mexican immigrants coming into the United States, and pledged to push for a "reasonable" immigration policy.

More than 1,000 people--including 30 pilots with their private planes--have volunteered for what they call their "Minuteman Project", seeking to monitor the movement of illegal aliens during April and report them to the Border patrol.

Bush said after yesterday's summit with Mexican President Vicente Fox and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin at Baylor University that he finds such actions unacceptable.

"I am against vigilantes in the united States of America," Bush said at a joint press conference.

1. Oh god. I was just in momentary agreement with dumb***.
That was scary.

Then I remembered his actions are always the actions of a whore and sometimes - just sometimes - they might sound right.

4. The Minutemen are a dangerous outlaw group. Bushco is, too, but I agree
with the talking point. I suspect it's a Bush nod to Fox and an attempt to bolster his "guest worker" proposal.

5. ChinaMart would go out of business if the illegals can't come here no more
They would have to pay their workers at least minimum wage if they were forced to hire American citizens. That would kill off the whole idea of ChinaMart. They would actually have to compete with the mom and pop stores again. The mom and pop stores would probably win too. That is the deal here.

9. If shrub was using homeland security money to protect our borders
instead of using all of our at home military to protect him as he travels around spewing bushit to bushites, then maybe we wouldn't need vigilantes as our border guards. They spend all of hs money on crap against we the people but leave our ports almost completely unguarded. They search very little of imports coming into the US.
Take the money out of developing weapons for crowd control (us) protecting the chimp from real and imaginary dangers, providing so much security at our protests that the police are literally standing around in huge groups doing nothing, while choppers fly in the air. How much does that cost? I will bet that the majority of HS money is going into the pockets of bushies corporate friends to promote useless or bogus HS projects while our borders remain porous and our ports don't even look for crap coming into the country. This almost proves that the bushies knows that the real terrorist threat is very small. imo

22. those people aren't in law enforcement, and they shouldn't be given
that authority. Hate to say it, but Shrub's right - they're vigilantes and there can't be vigilantes in a civil society. Many of them are nothing more than xenophobic hatemongers.

18. If the Democrats will take a strong stand against illegal immigration
Edited on Fri Mar-25-05 10:22 PM by MrTriumph
the Dem. Party can win elections.

Notice who supports illegal immigration or the tasteful revision of it called 'guest worker' program. It is ususally some politician beholden to big business or some college professor who doesn't find his job threatened by illegal immigrants.

I will guarantee you that when illegal labor steals jobs from lawyers, judges, professors and politicans there will be an electrified fence 100' tall along the Mexican border.

21. Bush was in a summit meeting???
Wait...i thought he had left his Easter vacation on the ranch to go to DC re: Schiavo. The news made such a bid deal about him interrupting his vacation...and now the man is actually "working"? Where are the photo-op pics to rival the ones taken with his majesty's serious displeasure of arriving in DC this past week on behalf of all those politicians to push a "Terri" law into place?
