Doesn't seem like there's much of a malpractice crisis.
Malpractice program ends for lack of business
State Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler said a government program that helped physicians find medical malpractice insurance in the past three years will end March 31.
The program will shut down due to lack of business, with only two physicians applying for assistance in the past eight months.
The availability of medical malpractice insurance is improving and costs are beginning to go down, Kreidler said in an announcement.
The state formed the voluntary Market Assistance Program, under which participating insurers formed a partnership with local insurance agents and brokers to shop applications for coverage among each other to determine which insurer was best suited to accept the risk.
Kreidler said the program helped 32 of its 62 applicants find malpractice insurance in its three years. Most of the remaining applicants were turned down for prior claims histories or gaps in coverage.
