Citizens to Save California farms a little menial work out to India
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/03/08/BUGRGBLTE11.DTL

Citizens to Save California, a business-backed group with close ties to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, says it's committed to creating new jobs.

And it's starting in India.

As part of a $10 million petition drive to place the governor's proposed constitutional amendments before voters, Citizens to Save California has hired an out-of-state firm to verify signatures. That firm, in turn, is outsourcing the work to India.

Rick Claussen, the group's general manager, defended the move by emphasizing that most of the money will be spent in California. "Of the total amount, maybe only a few hundred thousand will go overseas," he said.

2. gads, it just keeps on coming....
I think the verification of signatures
should come from people inside CA and
inside the Secretary of State's office
as is usually done.

What a scam.

3. Deans California group getting involved
http://www.californiafordemocracy.com/?q=noarnold

Just getting underway, thanks to a grassroots idea bubbling up as a result of Fabian Nunez 2 March Conference call to 25 CFD meet-ups statewide, is a massive mobilization of grassroots energy and commitment to STOP the Gubernator's unnecessary and wasteful special election.

Schwarzenegger is weaker now than he has ever been - in fact, his approval ratings are the same as Grey Davis were at a similar point in Davis' first term. We need to drive the point home that Schwarzenneger is the Special Interest Governor, weak when tackling California concerns, weak on the budget, and unable to keep a single campaign promise.

The attached 2-sided half-sheet flyer (click on the "download" link in the signature to this post, just below) is a useful tool for challenging petition gatherers statewide. Don't let Schwarzenneger waste another $70 million on an unnecessary election while our schools, pension funds, and healthcare needs waste away under a 15 billion dollar debt. Educate the public about who Arnold really serves - Enron, Worldcom and Wall Street Robber Barons.
