Third Bush in White House?
Washington - Former US president George HW Bush said in an interview made public on Sunday he was convinced his younger son, Florida Governor Jeb Bush, will not run for president in 2008 to replace elder brother President George W Bush.

Speculation about Jeb Bush's 2008 ambitions were fuelled by his high-profile trip to South Asia in the wake of the December tsunami at the head of a US government delegation, whose task was to assess damage and draft US relief plans.

<snip>

The former president insisted, however, the current Florida governor would make "an outstanding president".

"He knows the issues, he's a strong leader," he said of Jeb Bush.

I ridiculed the idea last year, but I definently could not take another four years of this Imperial Family in the White House.

That would be the only reason he won't run. He'll most likely sit back and let the Democrats fix his brother's mess then run in 2012.

101. I definitely agree
I'm sure they'll allow (how sad that I said "they'll allow") a Democratic win. The pugs know they need a scapegoat to blame the dismal state our country and world is in.

And, the blind GOP and blind Bush* supporters will vote the 2012 Repubican in - believing the GOP lies that only the GOP can 'correct' the mess that the 2008 Democratic administration created.

Evil, pure evil, these greedy pugs.

They hate Hillary so much, that they will have hard-ons crucifying her.

13. You really think that?
After the support you have seen thrown to the Bush cartel after this last election? Whether you attribute his win to political machinations or to machine manipulation, George W. Bush is well liked -- unfortunately -- by a sizable amount of people in this country. Those same people hold Bush as a hero and idolize him to an almost cult-like extreme.

In Loudoun county, Va. I really think that a lot of these people put them on after Bushit "won". Kinda like after the super bowl everyones favorite team becomes whoever won. Americans are so predictable, nobody wants to be a "loser". It's the "We're #1!" mentality.

Jeb Bush may not have the same appeal, but he has only to be the anointed leader, the heir apparent, by George the Lesser to get the needed approval. Look -- if Bush gives them marching orders to support his brother, you better believe they will fall in line.

That is, if Jeb keeps "chowing down" like there's no tomorrow, he may have to go in for "the surgery" before he can make a run at the White house.

I don't know if it's just me but I don't think Jeb looks handsome? Dubya has a "frat boy" aura thingy going for him, but Jeb reminds me of an homely Jethro Bodine. (Max Bear was cute in comparison).

His daughter would be in jail for drug charges -- except that her father is Jeb.

He converted to his wife's religion when they married -- this wouldn't please gw-bushie's fundie supporters.

Jeb's daughter, Noelle Bush, is a cocaine addict. She is the elder Bush's grand daughter -- not his daughter. 38. Jeb is No Dubya
I mean, Dubya managed to defeat Ann Richards, a very popular incumbent governor.

Jeb was defeated in his first run by Lawton Chiles. He ran again and defeated Buddy McKay, very wussy looking man with no charisma. He was re-elected by defeating Bill McBride - another good ol' boy who may have had a lot on the ball, but in the debates, Jeb looked like the smarter one.

I've never quite understood it myself. I don't find his smirk, his arrogance - well, I don't find anything about him charming, and I can't understand how anyone can. It's frightening to me that people think he has charm.

Anyway, George Sr. says Jeb doesn't want to run, so it probably means he will. Personally, I agree with whoever said the bush name will be destroyed by junior. If he continues as he is, he will hang himself with his own arrogance.

34. I'm cynical enough to believe that there's a % of voters in 2000
Edited on Mon Mar-07-05 11:59 AM by patsified
who voted for Gee-Duhb simply because of the cachet of having a son-of-a-president for president. Because it'd be cool. And for no other reason than that. So you can bet your ass that there would be a similar % of voters in 2008 who would think it'd be way-mega-super-dee-duper-awesome cool to have a second son-of-a-president for president.

I'd love to know how many voters truly follow policy to any degree whatsoever.

...John Ellis Bush. "Jeb" is his initials morphed into a name (how lame is that?).

I do see your point, though. I like Hillary and all, but I actually pray that she never even TRIES for the Dem nomination...

62. They'll CHANGE it to "Jebediah"
Karl's already planning that, to get the "NASCAR Dad" vote.
"Hay, Cooter! Jeb Bush's got a creepy Rebel name laik me!"

"Yew sed it, Nicodemus!"

I admire Hillary and everything (don't agree with her 100%) but it would be the STUPIDEST thing in the world to run her agains any horse Karl Rove puts into the race.

41. No, Poppy is right. Not in 2008.
Jeb will come later. They need someone else in between to blame everything on. I used to think they wanted a Democrat in that spot (a weak one) but we have swung so much to the right I now think they'll install a "moderate" Republican. Then they'll blame him for all the bad effects of everything George did and he'll decline to run for a second term and Jebbie will run as the Second Coming.

"In the Dukakis debate in 1988 Bush put it like a last comment while he's grinning and he said, 'I've unleashed the Bush family on America.' That has always been my image of this family, steeped in corruption, crime, and fascism that has taken over machinery of the country. " - John Judge

43. It's time for an ANTI-NEPOTISM addition to the Constitution.
I'm sick of familial powers running our government. It's time to limit the number of immediate family members that can run for office, in an effort to limit political dynasties (this includes the Clintons).

America was formed, in part, as a reaction to monarchical power structures, and it's about time we returned to our roots...

They don't even live together. Poppy must be paying the wife off to stay married for the sake of his career. Jeb may have to wait till 2012, when he's safely esconced in his second marriage and the kids are gone.

59. It may take a revolution (like the French) to get rid of this family.
It looks like the Bush's are bringing back monarchy. How long until one of them says "let the poor eat cake". No wonder Republicans hate the French so much.

If I recall correctly, Jebbie is the one who was first a card carrying member of PNAC too.

68. Dubya Isn't Going Anywhere
The 22nd Amendment will be revoked ... probably by the 110th Congress after the e-voting machines let the Neocons smash the Democrats in '06.

The neocons will revoke the 22nd amendment, as well as amending the constitution to allow a foreign born person to run as pres or vice-pres.

Mark my words on this one.

Dubya isn't going away. The PNAC will not give up their God and muppet.

Look for a Bush/Schwarzenegger ticket in '08.

Bookmark this prediction now.

Sadly, there are many sheeple that will wet their pants on the very thought of such a ticket.

Bush has aligned himself with too many things that people identify themselves with. I don't think the Neocons will give that up.

The 22nd Amendment will not last till '08 ... mark my type.

They know that if Arnold gets to run for president/vice-president then he'll find himself up against Jerry Springer (born in the UK).

Arnie wouldn't stand a chance against Springer. The presidential debates would be hilarious to watch however :)

70. 22nd Amendment on Chopping Block NOW
The 22nd Amendment is on the chopping block now.

There are ALREADY 2 bills from the 109th Congress pushing to repeal the 22nd Amendment:

H. J. RES. 24:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/C?c109:./temp/~c109mdDvTf

and

H.J. Res. 9:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c109:H.J.RES.9.IH:

The only thing that has stopped the 22nd Amendment from being repealed to date have been the Repubs, but if it comes up for vote ... they will flip flop and vote to repeal it this time.

Wait and watch.

My gut feeling truly is that Shrub WILL be running again in '08. Pathetic, but true.

73. Doubt he'll run......he broke with the religious freaks
on a Florida constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. This was the surest way to know that he was serious when he said "No".

I think his big brother would like to hand little Jeb the reins of facism. I think his family and persona life would cause him problems in the national spotlight.

90. Who are we kidding
they will put in who they want!!! They own us!!! It doesn't matter what the person has done in the past or what we think (look at *, he did drugs , he lies, he has no moral values) if they want it 'it will be'. Covering up and twisting things to suit themselves is their greatest ability. Doing things they want without "WE THE PEOPLE" involved is what they do. I know I sound cynical but that is how I feel. "WE THE PEOPLE" do not exist. Remember, they are writing the pages and leaving us to have to live with those pages. Didn't they say that they are creating their vision and by the time we get there it is already history? If they want jeb they will get him in. Voting is just a pacifier they have given us so we believe we have a say. WE DO NOT HAVE ANY SAY!!! All they want from us is for us to "GO SHOPPING".:kick:
