Gibbons' talk to lawmakers sparks partisan spat, potshots
This guy is one of Bush's war messengers, he ran around for over two years telling us that Saddam took the WMD out of Iraq before we got there and he had proof. Never have seen it to this day ...

CARSON CITY -- U.S. Rep. Jim Gibbons' brief address to the Legislature prompted a rare protest and a spat over a patriotic song Thursday.

About a dozen Democrats protested near the Legislative Building during the 38-minute speech.

"The chance Jim Gibbons may be the next governor fills us all with fear," said Bob Fulkerson, leader of the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada. "His views are too extreme."

Also Thursday, Assembly Speaker Richard Perkins, D-Henderson, refused Gibbons' request to allow 12-year-old Cethe Autumn of Gardnerville to sing "God Bless America."

That decision led state Republican Chairwoman Earlene Forsythe to issue a news release complaining about "Petty Perkins."

Gibbons said he had nothing to do with Forsythe's news release, but he took Perkins to task for refusing to allow the girl to sing.

Gibbons, a Republican five-term member of Congress, said he has been allowed to have singers at his previous speeches to the Legislature.

"We invited this young girl to sing," he said. "I am saddened for her. She now has the impression she wasn't allowed to sing for some reason she cannot understand."

Perkins said Assemblyman Garn Mabey, R-Las Vegas, agreed with his decision not to have a singer before the speech.

1. Amazing, isn't it, that Saddam gave the WMDs to terrorists, and yet
no terrorist attack (in many cases, suicide, er, "homicide" bombings) included any form of WMDs? Unless you count the one shell casing that contained a vital chemical used in making a chem weapon (of course, H2O is often a "vital chemical" in many deadly things).

Oh, wait, Saddam simultaneously gave all the Chem/WMDs to the terrorists AND buried them deep somewhere in Iraq. That's right! Two absolutely conflicting concepts not cancelling each other out! (Remember, these people deal with absolutes!)
