White House rejects North Korean call for direct talks

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea has demanded bilateral talks with the United States to defuse the tension created by its announcement that it is a nuclear power, the communist state's U.N. envoy said in a South Korean newspaper Friday. The White House said it was not interested in one-on-one talks.

7. Can't see it happening....
ShrubCo just don't want to sit down with KJI, as Kim may have some "demands" of his own....don't want to get into a "quid-pro-quo" situation where they may have to give up their bases in SK...

8. Build the bomb vs. Feed your people
Kimmy Il is a moron. He needs to explain to the world why he lets his people die from hunger, and uses his nukes to chases away the people who can help.

9. You could be talking about the U.S.
Bush's budget increases defense spending and cuts spending to the poor.

Koreans know the US doesn't have the forces to invade - so the toying with the world can now begin. That is in fact what sociopaths like to do: toy with populations (the world) using fear - it helps to fill the unending needs of an empty ego.

Thanks for laying bare the 'myth' of the unending strength of the US army. I am sure many other nut-bombs have been taking notes!!

16. Maybe 1:1 talks aren't optimal...
We all know what a blundering moron Bush is. The man is about as sharp as a sack of wet mice.

Maybe it's best if we keep him away from world leaders.

We need 1:1 talks, but not between Bush and anyone else. Just keep the little fascist touring around the country, lying about Social Security--and off the world's stage.

If we had a true statesman and an eloquent communicator who could make a difference--1:1 talks would be the answer. The tension might be diffused if Kerry was President and he went.

However, we're stuck with flea brain.
