Bush Rallies Republicans Ahead of Speech

Sat Jan 29,12:38 AM ET

By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va.

.....Bush spoke at a luncheon GOP retreat at a time when his proposal to add private investment accounts to Social Security (news - web sites) is coming under increasing fire, including from some Republican lawmakers present at the retreat.

...However, Dreier said that Republicans must emphasize the positive in trying to sell the plan to the country.

Republican sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that in the private portion of the discussion, Bush invoked his twin 22-year-old daughters, Jenna and Barbara, as examples of the need to pass Social Security legislation. By the time they reach retirement age, the president was quoted as saying, the system will be bankrupt unless changes are made. According to administration estimates, Social Security will be able to pay full benefits until 2042. After that, it is projected that about 73 percent of promised benefits can be paid.......

........"I'll continue to articulate the faith-based agenda, the compassionate agenda, so people can find hope in our country," Bush said. "I'll remind the people we're a great nation. We can achieve anything we set our minds to.".......

......

3. But truly, when the Bush twins reach retirement age. . .
and Social Security is "bankrupt," what will Shrub care? He'll be dead, and as he's told us in the past the judgements of history are inadequate for him since death robs him of all responsibility and blame for his actions.

Shrub needs to learn, he can't be selective about which pages of history he'll "accept" as his legacy . . . he'll have to live with them all.

They'll need Social Security? Give me a break.

They need to join the Army, if they stay for twenty they'll get a decent pension. I thought the B*sh's were patriotic? Those girls need to join the Fight to spread freedom.

5. We need to start hitting
the Republican legislators hard, especially those with seats up in 06. They need to hear that we understand how the game is being played and that their continued hoorahing is being noted and they will suffer the penalty.

8. If it's such a good plan, why do they need too
"sell the plan to the Country"? Just like their tax giveaway to the richest among us, they had to "sell" that to us also. And we see how well that work out. The BFEE are nothing but thieves and cons. They've been ripping off Americans for generations. bush** can take his "faith based and compassionate agenda" and shove it.
