IRANIAN SOURCE REPORTS PLOT TO ATTACK U.S. NUKE
Edited on Fri Jan-28-05 04:23 AM by lala_rawraw
Iranian Source Says Tehran Plans To Fly Plane Into US Nuclear Reactor

Middle East Newsline | January 27 2005

Comment: Yeah sure, and provide the perfect justification to bring the world's biggest military might down upon them, right, that makes A LOT of sense. Does this 'source' drink in the same bar as the alcoholic 'Curve Ball' Iraqi who provided the oh so reliable WMD evidence Colin Powell presented to the UN in 2003?

WASHINGTON -- Congress has been pressing the U.S. intelligence community to investigate claims by an Iranian defector that Teheran planned to crash an airliner into a nuclear reactor in the United States.

Several members of Congress were said to have been alarmed by the information and one has met with CIA senior officials to press for an investigation. So far, the CIA has refused to question the Iranian defector, a former senior official in the 1970s.

Rep. Curt Weldon, vice chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, has met the unidentified defector several times in Paris over the last 22 months. Weldon said the defector has been accurate in predicting several important developments in the Iranian regime since February 2003. The developments were said to have included those in Iran's nuclear weapons programs and support for Al Qaida.

The informant, dubbed Ali, was said to have been in contact with two dissidents in the inner circle of the Islamic republic. They were said to have reported a secret government directive by Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei who presided over the nation's strategic weapons programs and financed and controlled groups deemed terrorists.

Wow, they must be running an asylum and drag out these guys whenever they need something said - or better yet maybe it's all part of brainwashing, they actually make these people think up whatever meets their needs at the time. Hitler would be proud of these guys, they learned well...

Edited on Fri Jan-28-05 03:56 AM by Nothing Without Hope
...well, that's another day with the compliant US corporate media.

This story is such a transparent plant to assist the program of the blivet** administration to justify invasionof Iraq, I can't see how ANYONE could believe it. "Defectors" and "dissidents" were quite voluble about Saddam's sinister anti-US intentions, too. Even if this story actually did come from a reallio-trulio Iranian defector, it's clear that such a person would know what to say to get preferential treatment by DOD "intelligence experts." Rummy knows what he wants to hear, and they aim to please.

OT (that means "off-topic")- I just read your amazing story about the Ohio ballots with stickers on them, posted at DU yesterday. Iposted a reply to your post in that thread and I hope you will read it. In this thread I just want to thank you again and tell you to take good care of yourself. I hope your fever is down and that you got some rest. Posting at this time of night suggests that your sleep is still not what it should be. Be well.

7. oh no, if i see a plan hit...
my home again... i should post pictures here of what ground zero look like from my window... did we forget 9/11 so fast that the victims of 9/11, primarily NYC, are called traitors and dirty liberals? If this shit is done again...I am not even kidding... if Congress let's this happen we split from the union... everyone is "extracted" to the northern states... away from hell... we form our own congress, president Kerry/VP Gore..., CIA/FBI good guys come with us... and since the north pays for everything... we keep our god damn money. Hell no are these people going to hit me again!!!

We need to mass send this to everyone as a heads up to the pre-empt propoganda blitz... there are like what, 30 cons in the CIA, the rest can't take over? I know they are frightened, but good god, there are more non cons than nazi-cons. Same with the FBI... there are more good guys than bad guys... HELLO???? we need to start watching every "leak" headline floating into Fox out the mouth of casting-couch barbie, Ann C...the barbie nazi... in fact... it is almost like they want them to hit us with all of this talk from Ann... all of this "dare-a-terrorist" and such...no? Are they trying to get the first hit this time around instead of actually doing it themselves?

I say we make a formal statement to the world that we are not part of this... we are just as victimized (very much so on 9/11) as anyone else is by this admin .... we are victims too and they should not kill us for something we are trying to stop but have no power to do so. what do you guys think? We take an ad out in the major papers? I will write something up and we all sign it? or is that pure brain meltdown talking? I just don't/can't think of anything else :(

19. Oh yes, you have good reason to worry, we all do.
Edited on Fri Jan-28-05 04:47 AM by Nothing Without Hope
They look to be following the same script they used to orchestrate the invasion of Iraq. Yes, very very scary.

It's one of the many reasons why it is essential to expose what really happened in the 9/11 attacks, which I believe were either enabled or planned by the administration. It worked so well, why not try it again to launch ANOTHER unwanted war? That's the way the DOD civilian leadership and other neocons would think. I have no doubt at all that they would do ANYTHING to get what they want. Milliions of deaths and global war? They WANT that. It's part of their plan.

Yes, we need to be very active in pointing out the meaning of this story. It will be interesting to see if any of the mainstream corporate media pick up this story or whether it never rises above these fringe sites. In the meantime, I'm nominating this thread for the DU home page, where it would be seen by far more people. It's worth having a heads-up about this.

I'm very glad you retitled your starting post in this thread and would have asked for you to do it if you have not done so already. It's not only the rule, it also tells part of the story right in the thread title.

Please take care of yourself, stay warm, remember to eat, and get some rest. We need you in fighting form to keep bringing in this kind of important information.

In fact why don't we all email Tehran and ask them if they'll give us asylum?

Hell maybe we can draw them a map to a red state? <sarcasm off>

You've got to be kidding...send this all around the net etc saying we want to over-throw the government? LOL

You people are freaking amazing...do you really think that you can motivate anyone here to do something so bizarre and stupid?

Better go back to FR and concoct another plan because this dog won't hunt.

61. Agreed!
Have had many arguments from a few Sore Winners I thought were my friends. Mind you, I never brought it up, they did like they couldn't wait to ?? get angry at me.

My responses: "What are you mad about?" You won. And, "How about all those people in NJ/NY?" "Doesn't it tell you something about the way they feel, going blue?" They don't care! 1 blamed all of our cultural morals going down hill on poor Elvis! After that, I washed my hands on the ignorance Bushite has created.

I blame him and his buds up on the hill. Never, ever in almost 50 years have I ever seen just blatant abuse of power over the American people, nor seen any presiding leaders do absolutely nothing to abridge all of us, rather enjoying their mandate to divide.

Got news from all of them! Here in Maryland, we're not half Yankee, half South. We're all damn Yankees and damn proud of it.

And agreed! Need to watch the feeds and Fox :puke: and demand the truth once and for all!!!!

24. Absolutely true. It was suspicious from the start.
It didn't take long after the initial shock for people to start connecting the dots. I remember being shocked that these planes had somehow gotten through what I had believed was a very tight national air defense system. Not one, but THREE!!! Both to downtown New York and to the Pentagon itself! This SHOULD have been IMPOSSIBLE. Since then, as you know, the accumulated evidence has continued to grow despite all efforts to suppress and destroy it. Of course, those efforts to cover it up are damning in themselves.

I'm glad 9/11 now has its own DU forum and hope the continuing investigations expose enough truth to blow the blivet** and his cronies out of power. I don't think there's any other scandal with the same potential to connect directly with the national psyche to bring about instant and total outrage. Soon, please make it soon.

6. Hmmm... sounds like what the US plans to do
Why is it sound policy when the US plans to bomb an iranian reactor
and terrorism when iran plans to bomb a US reactor?

Do these chappies have any sense of balance given who is threatening
whom? All an airliner is, in this case, is a poor mans smart bomb.

If, as i suspect, this story is not true at all, and merely vapourous
lies, then that only leaves 1 set of terrorists threatening to bomb
another country using criminal aggressive war.

37. spotting the obvious
Gosh, you'd think it was rocket science to read through
propaganda. Frankly, i do not count Iran as a third world country.
Third world countries are not governed by the rule of law, and no
amount of wealth inside the palace can replace respect for the rule
of law. That the US administration is short on law, and long on lies
leaves some serious question as to those old terms third and first
world.

Someone here on DU called western europe and canada first world,
the US second world and poor subsaharan africa third. I think this
more accurate. By that standard, iran would as well be second world.
It has some serious trouble with human rigths standards for women,
but so does the US. As well, the US has more people in prison and
practices torture, so by and large, its a pot meet kettle situation.

In this regard, i find it humourous that the US picks its enemies
as the sorts of countries that most reflect the puerile point of view
of the bush kleptocracy... iran, china, russia.. You become what you
focus on in life, and the US has fallen terribly far from first world,
eroding its democracy in search of authoritarian dictatorship.

I'm flattered you like the posts. I hope it inspires others to
give it a go themselves, to see the balance through the fog.

namaste,
-s

I think if the Iranians wanted to crash an airliner into a nuclear facility it would have been done decades ago. I heard that they are getting hints at a U.S. invasion.... silly them.

Centre for Research on Globalisation (CRG), globalresearch.ca, 16 November 2001

http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/NOR111A.html
In his new expos of the National Security Agency entitled Body of Secrets, author James Bamford highlights a set of proposals on Cuba by the Joint Chiefs of Staff codenamed OPERATION NORTHWOODS. This document, titled Justification for U.S. Military Intervention in Cuba was provided by the JCS to Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara on March 13, 1962, as the key component of Northwoods.

Written in response to a request from the Chief of the Cuba Project, Col. Edward Lansdale, the Top Secret memorandum describes U.S. plans to covertly engineer various pretexts that would justify a U.S. invasion of Cuba. These proposals - part of a secret anti-Castro program known as Operation Mongoose - included staging the assassinations of Cubans living in the United States, developing a fake Communist Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area, in other

Florida cities and even in Washington, including sinking a boatload of Cuban refugees (real or simulated), faking a Cuban airforce attack on a civilian jetliner, and concocting a Remember the Maine incident by blowing up a U.S. ship in Cuban waters and then blaming the incident on Cuban sabotage. Bamford himself writes that Operation Northwoods may be the most corrupt plan ever created by the U.S. government.

The whole spiel about Iran. I saw Seymour Hersh on The Daily Show the other night. He was explaining how this administration was bent on war with Iran, and wanted a new war by summer.

He even explained to expect this very same type of information(most likely misinformation) Said they would use the same lieing decitful tactics that led us to war in Iraq.

I don't think it'll fly a 2nd time, but i'm sure they are gonna try.

Joy at getting this out suggests a great deal.

So, watch the stock market every single day... watch world news trends every day... watch the freepers and fox and see what direction they go in...this cannot be done without the help of the props machine...and the market will express itself, unless it is crashed, then no one can track anything, but this regime has all the money...should we take an ad out to the planet saying that we are victims too and that we cannot stop this regime .... so should there be attacks, perhaps they will take pity on us too? I mean we are hated, hated. That frightens me. And all of our troops are where? So if we are hit, holy shit... guess FEMA will have to call the commands and take power over Congress.

I sometimes wonder if maybe the Bush admin. actually believes their lies about WMD, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they were behind 9/11, and if they are staging another attack to "rally" the country. But I'm not so sure people would buy into it this time around. Consider this:

Bush dubs himself the "war president" who "protects the homeland." Many people re-selected him because they didn't want to "change horses in the middle of a war," and they somehow believed that Bush was doing a good job protecting the country since we haven't been attacked by 9/11. Now, if we have another attack, I think people will realize that he hasn't protected us. If anything, the Iraq war and Bush's policies actually put us in harm's way.

What we have to do is hold this administration accountable. We have to reprimand our reps who voted for Condi Rice. We have to support those like Boxer who have spoken out from the start. We CANNOT settle for this "Oh, we had faulty intelligence. Whoops." Let me tell you, if you were at your job and cost the company millions or billions of dollars because you twisted the facts or didn't have adequate information, you would be FIRED!

46. I smell the stink of neocons
NY Post? I think this is part of the "if the right-wing echo chamber says it's true, then it must be reality," campaign. After a couple hundred years of Iran NOT attacking us on our own soil, conveniently, now that the neoconservatives have a chance to take over the Middle East, they're going to blow up a nuclear reactor.

Doesn't matter what the truth is. The freep totalitarian brain will have already made this a "reality."

48. I only see Iran doing this kind of attac AFTER the US attacks them
If we perform "tactical" strikes, in Bushspeak that means "shooting blindly into a pond hoping to get a fish," against Iran, I expect Iran to strike back against us, either in Iraq or against Israel. A direct attack on us on our soil would not be done by Iran unless we literally invade them, and even then, they would have to have Iranian agents already here setting up the scenario.

This story is bogus on the surface, but anybody with a brain in their head would expect Iran to strike back against us if we strike them first. It's just a matter of how and when.

59. just thought of something...
FEMA is Homeland Security/Head of HSS is "of the devil" who overrides Presidential powers, if need be? I they recreating their version of the rapture? Who casted this set of actors? Did anyone hear condi's crap today? Oy!

I notified everyone I know in Congress... I suggest you send STOP THIS SPIN INTO OUR OWN DEMISE... send non-stop, to every paper, every orgnaization, every member of government... remember, quick response... that is what we need... go, go , go

Then we focus on taking an ad out explaining that we want peace and that we are victims of a regime we cannot control either. And we beg not to be killed as payback. Sorry, I don't need pride when this regime is torturing people in my name... what can I say...other than "I am sorry, we are all victims." So I think these would be good strategies... I could be wrong. Thoughts?

51. So....
Why is the CIA refusing to interview the Iranian defector? Could it be he has as much credibility as Chalabi did? Is Bush beefing up security at our nuclear facilities because of this report? Pfffttt!

54. Sounds like another "Chalibi" story..... one defector on a mission
There's no way in hell Iran would "start" a war with the U.S. We need to call our congresscritters and ask them, politely but in no uncertain terms, if they're really stupid enough to believe this ploy from the warmongers in charge, yet again!

56. the "daily dose" will continue til the invasion--we are in for it
And if they did "plan" to crash a plane into a "U.S." nookyooler reactor what would they gain?
Stoopid plan--the plant wouldn't "blow up" anyway-
it's not like the plutonium will react with a fire or explosion and suddenly turn into a nuclear explosion--it'd just melt everything in the plant and release some radiation.

Who thinks up these fake Iran stories?
Tell you what, it's a chess game,
do the U.S. "leaders of free men" think they're actually going to own and control ALL the oil rich countries in the middle east? while China and Russia and the gang just allow it to happen (they need this oil too)? no way
Even if you're I.Q's as low as chimp's you'd know there will be trouble.

60. My guess
Is that the PTB want to get us into a position to attack Iran. A strike on a nuc here in the USA would do the trick. Down in San Diego they have a useless reactor at San Onofre that they want to ship to the Gulf Coast for dis-assembly. But they can't figure how to move the damn thing from where it sits on the beach. My take is that it is a perfect candidate for a 'strike' by Iran. Two birds....one stone. Bob
