American Captive: "I'm not asking for any help from President Bush"
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=440046

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A video distributed by insurgents on Tuesday apparently shows an American citizen taken hostage by militants in Iraq, putting the U.S. administration under new pressure five days before Iraq's election.
"I'm not asking for any help from President Bush because I know of his selfishness and unconcern to those who've been pushed into this hellhole," he says.

10. I wonder if this poor man
is going to be portrayed as a traitor for saying anything negative about Bushler? How sad for his family, because I'm afraid that in addition to losing his life, the Chimp's adoring press will also insure that he loses his reputation.

I feel so bad for his family, they are facing losing a loved one and a barrage of hate from the "values and morals" bunch. We need to get out of Iraq now, and stop causing so much death, pain, and grief.

2. Hmmm...I would love to know what this hostage's political beliefs
were BEFORE he was held hostage. I am surprised he has lasted as long as he has. Maybe he'll beat the odds. I hope for his sake that he does.

3. I can't believe he referred to him as "president" bush
Despot bush, tyrant bush, "that prick in the White House" (well, that would refer to too many), King George, Little Boots.

They should keep him alive for PR, let the world know what most of America thinks of the miracle in the Monkey Palace.

6. I'm sure he was FORCED to bad mouth our fearless leader
You know that's how they'll spin it. He is a patriot, of course, and would never bad mouth our glorious leader unless under threat of death!

Poor man- he is very likely doomed.

11. It's not commonly known in the US
But Libya has successfully negotiated the release of a number of hostages around the world, most recently (that I can think of) in the Phillipines.

Whether this guy was aware of that, or whether the line was fed to him, I'm not sure. I'd assume that any statement made by a hostage was not written by the hostage, though.

7. That sounds odd...but read on in the article...
While international condemnation has focused mostly on the insurgents' tactics, a leading rights group on Tuesday accused U.S.-trained Iraqi security forces of routinely torturing prisoners, citing abuse reminiscent of Saddam Hussein's rule.

Human Rights Watch said international police advisers, mostly Americans, had turned a blind eye to Iraqi violations.

It said prisoners had been beaten with cables and hosepipes, had suffered electric shocks to their earlobes and genitals and some had been starved of food and water.

The report follows a scandal over U.S. treatment of prisoners in the American-run Abu Ghraib prison, which erupted last year after the discovery of photographs showing prisoners being tortured and sexually abused.
