U.S. Is Punishing 8 Chinese Firms for Aiding Iran
The Bush administration imposed penalties this month against some of China's largest companies for aiding Iran's efforts to improve its ballistic missiles. The move is part of an effort by the White House and American intelligence agencies to identify and slow important elements of Iran's weapons programs.

The White House made no public announcement of the penalties, and the State Department placed a one-page notice on page 133 of The Federal Register early this month listing eight Chinese companies affected. The notice kept classified the nature of the technology they had exported. Since the Federal Register announcement, the penalties have been noted on some Web sites that concentrate on China and proliferation issues.

President Bush has repeatedly praised China for its help in seeking a diplomatic end to the North Korean nuclear standoff. Some officials in the administration speculated in the past week that the decision not to publicize the penalties might have been part of an effort not to jeopardize Chinese cooperation at a critical moment in the administration's effort to bring North Korea back to the negotiating table.

China has repeatedly vowed to curb its sales of missile technology, starting with an agreement with the first Bush administration in 1992, and expanded with the Clinton administration in 2000.But two of the largest companies cited in the State Department's list, China Great Wall Industry Corporation and China North Industry Corporation, known as Norinco, have been repeatedly penalized for more than a decade; each is closely linked to the Chinese military.

1. Ooooh NOT a good idea.
But then, bush & Cartel have never had a good idea in their entire lives; why expect them to have one now.

By the way, bush, WHICH NATION is the #1 worldwide seller of arms? (Hint: it ain't China)

9. WAIT A minute!

China has been helping keep US interest rates low (with a hand from the Federal Reserve), which leads to high producer inflation, and more offshore rather than onshore investment. This, in turn, has driven more jobs and industry to China, leaving the US fully dependent on countries like CHINA!

Is there a strategy here? Help the US run up a huge deficit, lose jobs, and destroy itself?

Bush said during the debates he would "never hand over the defense of the country to another"--but what about handing the whole US over to China!!!!

We are DEFENSELESS IMPORTERS!

6. heh heh where's the swagger, Bush?
Not so manly now, eh? Why not tell China to 'Bring it on'?

The fact is, Bush is a coward. He doesn't dare piss off China. Notice how they bury the 'punishment'; they've even had to do this repeatedly.

Interesting how selective they can be in their decision-making.

10. Bush manages to antagonize me every day -- why should the
Chinese be special. The man is just an antagonistic antagonism!

Seriously, we all the know the neo-cons end game is China. They reckon that if they have all the energy supplies in US control the Chinese and the rest of world for that matter will have to do our bidding. I don't think the pnacers realize that the Chinese are incredibly good Chess players too -- and with the long view of history they have, I doubt seriously if they're going to let an upstart nation like us, whose leader is but a few molecules more evolved that a monkey, even get to an end game!

I wish the human race would just remember what is taught in kindergarten: how to share and cooperate and take care of each other.
