Bush Stakes All On September 11
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Washington Post Tuesday 16th September, 2003

President Bush paused in his Labor Day remarks about jobs, and told his audience of union members, "I want you to think back to that fateful day, September the 11th, and what happened afterwards."

Usually his reminder is more subtle, but Bush is invoking the terrorist hijackings frequently, as he ramps up his reelection campaign, and tries to defuse the political risk posed by persistent joblessness, setbacks in Iraq, and accusations that he exaggerated evidence on the road to war.

In the past six weeks, Bush has cited "9/11" or Sept. 11, 2001, in arguing for his energy policy, and in response to questions about campaign fundraising, tax cuts, unemployment, the deficit, airport security, Afghanistan, and the length, cost and death toll of the Iraq occupation.
Bush's aides said his persistent references to the attacks reflect his identification with them as a searing personal experience. Some analysts said he sometimes appears to depend on such references in times of trouble or uncertainty.

Such references are not new for Bush. In April, when he was making the case for invading Iraq, he said he refused to leave the nation's enemies "free to plot another September the 11th."

If he is betting on 9/11 boy is he WRONG!

And he hasn't done shit about terrorism. We're not any safer that we were before. But America is way worse off.

21. Amen to that!
I agree about the 9/11 widows; "Bring 'em on!" THEY'LL straighten * out about using 9/11 as an answer to every shitty thing he has done.

Saw them on Hardball and they were incredible. At the end, Kristen B. looked into the camera and said "We are NOT going away!". I applauded.

That is going to be the Chimp's waterloo. If every hard core democrat in the tri-state area isn't there protesting the Gimp, I will be majorly dissapointed. I want the noise from outside the convention to be so loud that they have to seal all the doors so the noise doesn't drown out the speakers.

Soon it will just be another old catch phase people hate to hear. Remember "Whazzzzzzz up?" That is where Bush & Co. are heading.

makes a great excuse for unprecedented changes in foreign and domestic policy.

We are at war protects him from accountability on homeland defense, imperialist ideology, fiscal irresponsibility, racism, suppression of civil rights, etc, etc,

With that foil against all criticism wouldn't you push 9/11 too?

invoke 9/11? The BFEE went to all the trouble to do the deed, they are merely getting the return on their investment; use 9/11 to distract, obstruct and instill fear.

But hell, Bush has stated in no uncertain terms that his goal is to set up hurdles:

I mentioned early on that I recognize there are hurdles, and we're going to achieve those hurdles. 1/22/03---

15. The 9/11 widows
The 9/11 widows are not going to let this die. Why should they? Their husbands are gone and they want answers. Bush would have been smarter to come clean, but the neo-cons never admit mistakes. If you did not see the girls on Bill Moyers Friday try to find a transcript. They were awesome. The foursome is constantly in D.C. harrassing the WH and checking on the Commission.

Take the 9/11 widows...

Throw in the furious wives of servicemen...

And some angry vets...

Fortify them with the firefighters' union in NY, who just got the word that Christie Whitman is blaming rescue workers for their WTC illnesses...

You've got a potent anti-Bush 9/11 publicity campaign there.

Yeah reading a story about a goat but after that he was no where to be found. How can you bank on an AWOL moment? Not to mention the AWOL happened to be the worst civilian crisis in the mainland since Kennedy was shot. To be able to use it to gather votes, shouldn't we understand what he did first?

trying to find a place to hide. Plenty enough time to pose for pictures on the phone looking out the window so he'd look busy, that he could later sell to raise campaign money. See george have a busy day.

27. remember too, what happened BEFORE 9/11
... namely the bush administration ignored all the intelligence warnings that it was going to happen.

and what happened after 9/11? bush started two wars that failed to capture or kill even the supposed main targets --- osama, saddam, mullah omar; and that continue to disastrously drain our economy.

no one in the govt was found accountable for this disaster. no heads rolled. and as for increasing homeland security, our local police and firefighters are facing cutbacks.

if bush the failure wants to run on 9/11, he's likely to find it will backfire on him, cause it was really one of his biggest failures.

Why are people ignoreing Krongard? Not a good idea.

Bankers Funded Enron AlQuada and US CIA Coup Efforts and Corp. Death Squads

http://washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A16570-2001Mar16.html

But Krongard exhibited the requisite secretiveness when asked
to explain his interest in intelligence and how he came to land
a job in Tenet's inner circle. If you go back to the CIA's origins
during World War II in the Office of Strategic Services, he
explained, "the whole OSS was really nothing but Wall Street
bankers and lawyers."

Keeping the light off of himself.

"If you don't worry about who gets the credit, you can
accomplish an awful lot."

30. I saw a VERY powerful video of a Bush timeline on 9/11
I think it was from Take Back the Media and after I saw it I wondered how the Bush Corporation could defend his actions and the country could give him praise for his "leadership". I'll never understand how he could stay in that classroom for 1/2 hour when we were under attack. Wouldn't most presidents be involved in immediate decision-making. It doesn't seem to bother most people that he had a "non-roll".

38. Here's what I would like to see...
...every time * or his minions use 9/11 as a talking point, someone should show the Booker school video that we've all seen. Along with a timeline. Along with a mention of exactly when * actually showed up back in DC, and when he deigned to speak to the nation.

Yeah, let him run on it. But be relentless with the factual retorts. The facts, really, speak for themselves. The video is damning. Make sure each time it is shown, to stress that this is what our Commander In Chief was doing. Make sure to stress that, if he truly did not know that we were under attack WHEN HE FIRST WENT INTO THE SCHOOL that morning, then there was a very serious breach of chain-of-command: since we ALREADY KNEW THAT 4 PLANES WERE HIJACKED.

Sorry for shouting, I just can't believe that all of this is not yet mainstream. These yahoos still think 9/11 will work to their advantage. And why not? It has so far. Whereas, a little truth of the matter might make the population pause for a moment, just for a moment, while some light shines in on the reality ...

No, I don't argue MIHOP. LIHOP, but it was bigger than they thought it would be, that's what I think. But, I'd be happy with people just coming to the obvious conclusion, that whatever the reasons for the attack, our CIC was OTL on that day.

32. I'm sick and disgusted
beyond words with the repigs use of "9/11, terra, 9/11, terra". Haven't they exploited the dead enough to further their extremist agenda? Their milking of the event and use of the dead for political gain (they have nothing else) certainly causes one to ask "who gained from this tragedy?" MIHOP anyone?

36. does anyone remember
back when Bush Sr. couldn't get a vote if he bought it? Running against Clinton his popularity had plummeted. I remember a SNL skit showing him trying to rally support for something and everyone he called he had to remind of "Gulf War"--trying to tap into that old popularity.

This is so like that skit. Funny when real life imitates parody. Not funny ha-ha but funny.

What an asshole we have on our hands.

If you go to www.whiterosesociety.org you'll find an mp3 audio link to the "George W Bush and 1984: You decide. - Five easy steps for turning America into a totalitarian state."

The link is about halfway down the main page.

I have recorded this on cassette.
