| Newt Gingrich Open to Presidential Run |
|
WASHINGTON -- Newt Gingrich is taking steps toward a potential presidential bid in 2008 with a book criticizing President Bush's policies on Iraq and a tour of early campaign states. The former House speaker who led Republicans to power a decade ago said he soon will visit Iowa and New Hampshire to promote his book, try to influence public policy and keep his political options alive. "Anything seems possible," including a White House race, Gingrich told The Associated Press. The quotable and controversial former Georgia congressman, who now runs a consulting firm in Washington, is promoting, "Winning the Future: A 21st Century Contract with America." He seemed to welcome the thought that a book tour will increase speculation about his political aspirations. "It never hurts to maximize opportunities. That's the American tradition," Gingrich said. "If I can influence the reporters and political activists in Iowa and New Hampshire, they will influence the candidates." http://www.newsday.com/news/politics/wire/sns-ap-gingri...

All anybody'd have to do is remind people about how he threw over his cancer-stricken wife, while she was in the hospital trying to recover, because he needed someone on his arm who'd help him look more presidential. You can write off the woman's vote, instantly, with that one.
And the "contract ON America."
Bring 'em on, newtie...

The Dems couldn't beat a ham sandwich right now.
The average congressional Democrat is a weak-willed, lazy, short-sighted, coward. And those are their positive qualities.
P.S. (Obviously, the above two sentences to not apply to the courageous, noble, intelligent and articulate congressional Dem who supported Senator Boxer on Thursday.)

My former Congressman, and I was so thankful when he was gone and hoped he would stay gone.
His family values, his family, his accounting skills, and lack of military experience put him right up with the likes of Bush, and he is an outstanding representative of TRUE Republican values! Plus, he is an ex-history professor who thinks he can lecture effectively about what we have done wrong throughout the entire history of this country.
He MIGHT get some support for his candidacy, but he isn't doing this for that purpose. He is doing it only to make money from the sales of his new book. No integrity whatsoever.

Most (or even all) of the things posted about him here are true, but don't forget who we are talking about. He almost singlehandedly brought about the current domination of the House by the neocons.
Do not confuse evil with incompetence. He is a master of political strategy, at the very least equal to Karl Rove. And he is the darling of Talk Radio.

majority lost seats until 2002 and his foe Clinton was reelected in 96. Not even close to Karl Rove as far as political strategist is concerned. Doubt he will make it out of primary if he tries. The previous poster who said this is to sell books is correct. Newt is good at seeing and looking into the future. His book on Iraq and Bush, which is critical of Bush is what he is trying to sell and it will make him look far sighted. He knows Iraq is going to turn in to a hell hole. If it marks him as the Un-Bush in the next race, great, but Chuck Hagel is already going after that spot and is much more liked than Newt.

Gingrich always struck me as Cheney JR. Same type of background. Same basic ideas concerning civil liberties for the general public, corporate "rights", and privatization of government. Same "charming" grudge capabilities.
I also wouldn't doubt that if he were to become that tight in the cabal (damn spell check!), Barb might just be lucky enough to be wifey number 4 when it's time for his turn in the big seat. Once she's gotten over her "wild stage" and becomes a real southern "gentlewoman", that is. Keep that Shrub dynasty going!

Newt has shown that he has exactly the right morals and values to be seriously considered for the job. He's outdone himself in that department. I don't believe he'd seriously consider it though - I think he's just trying to sell books.
Course I used to believe American's weren't dumb enought to vote for *, either. No matter whether the majority really did or not, a lot of them really DID. I'm still trying to figure that one out...

Will never let him win the Primary... They will make sure, they Riggs the machines so that their man "Jeb Bush" would be in first place and win the Primary. Do you think, Neo-Cons want to give up what they have??? I are going to hold onto their power as long as they can.
I heard, machines were rigged for Kerry during Primary... Neo-Cons wanted to make sure, Dean wasn't the front runner. Neo-Cons wanted Kerry to win, so he can run against Bush. They knew Kerry and also knew how to go after him.

Told wife #1 that he was leaving her for #2 when #1 was at the hospital being treated for cancer. #2 got replaced by a younger intern (at the same time Newt was condemning Clinton for high school stuff)...also, I once read the syllabus for his course at Kennesaw State College (Georgia), and he is definitely lightweight (although a heavy intello by Bush standards).

For real contempt value, it's so easy to marvel at his complete dishonesty as he mocked Bill Clinton, ridiculed him, ran him down while he was conducting a squalid, dishonest relationship HIMSELF!
He's so far gone, he doesn't even have to worry about his conscience bothering him any more. He'll never blush, or stammer again. He's slick and cold, and comically ugly. What a catch!

Well, a Newt run would certainly be interesting in that his two most likely opponents will be Bill Frist and Tom Delay. Now that's a triumvirate of evil that can easily pass for the Unholy Trinity. It will certainly force us to nominate an attack dog of our own. No more nuances and having four positions on an issue! And no more quitters!

was a frat brother to the guy she was having her affair with...who she mistakenly thought would marry her if she didn't have kids. According to my co-worker, this guy had no intention of marrying Smith; it was a fling he kept hidden from his friends and family. And this guy is a real "family values" conservative (as is my co-worker) who didn't consider that his dalliance with a mother of two would have any repurcussions. These guys are as adept as Clinton at separating their booty calls from their "real" life. You'd think they'd worship Clinton rather than condemn him. Another case of their rules applying to other people. You know, Democrats.

Really, what has this guy done? He left Congress in disgrace and has barely made a peep since. He's been out of public office for a long, long time (a political eternity). And he's no Tricky Dick. I doubt he'll be a serious contender.

| 110. I think the table is being set for Jeb, too. |
|
This reptile Newt will be given a little publicity again, then the stories of his sordid past will come out. The corporate media is clearing the decks for Jeb, in my opinion, and anyone who might pose a threat is being outed way before hand (e.g. Guliani, through Kerik).
I hate writing "Jeb", but a suitable descriptive appellation doesn't seem to have taken root yet.

"... I got better." Gingrich is such a slimeball. He'll make for a good distraction while they ready Jeb for the job.
