Pence wants rollback of some Bush initiatives
http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/01/06/undoingbush.sagenda.ap/index.html

Some conservative Republicans in the House want to roll back much of the new Medicare drug benefit and the "No Child Left Behind" education law that President Bush made domestic hallmarks of his first term, a GOP lawmaker said Wednesday.

While praising Bush's leadership on fighting terrorism and passing tax cuts, Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana said it was important for Republicans to reassert conservative values that led them to control of Congress.

"The fate of the Republican majority ... will be largely determined by whether or not we rediscover those principles of limited government that more than anything else propelled us to majority status," said Pence, chairman of the Republican Study Committee, a group of more than 100 conservative House members.

3. Now that true conservatives are starting to make waves, we should
start to hear from the far right and religious nutties - they'll be asserting their presence and reminding bush that they are responsible for giving him his man-date.

Then we'll really start to have some fun.

Also, this type of infighting and the infighting to come will reduce the discussion of how to remake the Democratic party.

5. "those principles of limited government" also means
opposition to amending the Constitution to prohibit marriage between two consenting adults on the basis of their sexual orientation.

Sounds good to me.

6. Only 8 senators voted against NCLB:
all of them conservative Republicans. But they don't have sense enough to know that the neocons truly are their enemies, as well.
