Wash. GOP Points Out Flaws in Election
Wash. GOP Points Out Flaws in Election

By REBECCA COOK, Associated Press Writer

OLYMPIA, Wash. - State Republicans Wednesday charged that hundreds of provisional ballots may have been counted on Election Day without being verified.

It's the latest in a series of allegations from Republicans who are pointing to flaws in the governor's balloting and demanding a new election. After losing the first two counts, Democrat Christine Gregoire beat Republican Dino Rossi in the third count by 129 votes out of 2.9 million ballots cast.

State Republican Party Chairman Chris Vance said an admission by election workers in King County that provisional ballots had been counted without verification is "absolute proof" of the need for a new election. The heavily Democratic county includes Seattle.

"It's enough right there to invalidate the election," Vance said. "This is a bombshell."

4. It will be very interesting to see how much press these "voting
irregularities" in the state of Washington get....as contrasted to those in Ohio.

9. Were all the provisionals cast by Democratic voters?
This sounds like another lame ass GOP attempt to make the whole vote fraudulent.

It's amazing that the GOP is up in arms about provisional ballots being counted when they lost, but dammit if they call their opponents sore losermen when it's the other way around.

11. More right-wing conspiracy nuts.
I'd like to see a timeline of when they found all of this out. Did they know before the recount and hold out?

12. The WA Dem party should be all over this . .
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 10:47 PM by msmcghee
Instead all I hear on the local news are ads and claims by the GOP that the election was flawed and "a mess" and "Everybody thinks it should be done over".

Almost nothing from the Dems. No ads.

Just like Kerry and the Swiftboar f**ks Gregoire will think they couldn't get away with this - and the next thing you know they'll have people on the nightly news claiming fraud.

The only thing to do with repukes is drive a stake into their heart.

You do not stop and be nice to them or ignore them just because you think you beat them temporarily.

Added on edit: Crap like this is why we lose.

17. Our side doesn't know how to fight - look how the Repubs stole California
It will happen again and again until we start going on the offensive and beating them before they beat us.

Will it even be possible when they own the entire media?

13. Isn't Seattle awash in a sea of right wing talk radio?
They must not be too effective if King County is heavily Democratic.

Lots of those Dino Lossi counties in the eastern part of the state, according to figures I saw, gave Chris Gregoire a respectable amount of votes. She couldn't have won without them. The foul Republicans act like she got 100% of her votes from "corrupt" King County.

Al Gore was denied a revote in Fla, and Dino Lossi should be denied one in Washington.

16. Very True...
Some of the Republican counties, She actuarially won! But many other republican counties, she didn't loose by much! Dino wants people to think, it's only the King County she won by.
Can you imagine what it would like if Dino was our governor? He would demolish everything Democrat has work for past 30 years!!! He would be just like BUSH!!! He would not give a shit about people and support the CORPORATE.

18. This is all part of the Repuke echo chamber to try and sway public
opinion towards supporting a revote. It isn't going to happen, no way. The vast majority of voters in Washington are too savvy for this kind of ploy. This is a very cosmopolitan and educated state. Conservative talk radio and GOP ads can scream all they want, but the average voter in Washington has had enough of this election and believes in the current results. There already was a mechanical recount and a hand recount that were overseen by a Republican Secretary of State. It was an incredibly close election, but there were no more anomalies in it than usual, according to all unbiased observers. Repukes can, as a previous poster said, go suck it!

19. Welcome to our world, boys...
Unbelievable...that is the only word that can describe these people. The funny thing is, they do not see the hypocrisy of their actions.

If they want to see "enough to invalidate an election", we've got a few things to show them.

Bunch of dickheads...

20. "bombshell" when GOPers say it
but a "tin-foil-hat" in Ohio when Dems say it

meanwhile all I can say to GOPers in Washington -- "go for it!" -- if WA-vote is "tainted" how many other states also have "tainted votes"?

Let's open this can of worms!
