Attack on Iraqi police kills another 12

Insurgents have attacked an Iraqi police station in Saddam Hussein's home town of Tikrit, reportedly killing at least 12 officers.

Major Ali al-Tikriti told Reuters the insurgents had "attacked with many weapons".

Other attacks were reported in the region around Tikrit.

Iraq's new security forces - trained by US forces - are frequently targeted by insurgents opposed to the American presence in the country.
