Anti-Bush thong protesters plan lawsuit over arrest
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/trib/pmupdate/s_281573.html

Six men arrested for protesting the Abu Ghraib prison-abuse scandal by stripping down to thong underwear and forming a human pyramid plan to file a federal civil rights lawsuit, alleging their First Amendment rights were violated.

"We hope to reassert our rights as Americans and set a precedent to which the police must adhere," said Tristan Egolf, one of the men planning the lawsuit.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania alleges that the men were arrested to suppress their protest, which was held July 9, during a visit by President Bush to Lancaster County. The men were re-creating an image from photos taken inside the prison near Baghdad in which Iraqi prisoners were abused by U.S. captors.

Their arrest and subsequent intervention of the ACLU works to benefit in getting the message out. I applaud them.

4. Only men are smart enough and patriotic enough to do this protest
I defy, nay, I dare the women of the anti-war movement to show us that they're as appalled by the horrors of Abu Ghraib and provide us with a similar protest demonstration.

OK, ladies, you can put your clothes back on now. It was just a joke.

Sadly, however, if women did do this kind of protest it would be covered far more extensively, altho almost exclusively for its porn-imagery, with virtually no attention paid to the issues that provoked them to make such a drastic statement.

5. Guess these guys didn't get the memo....
from the police-state fascists. The first amendment has been gone for a while now. You have the right to be arrested and get your a$$ kicked. That is about the only right you have in the US these days.
