Serbian President's Motorcade in Car Crash (US Embassy emp)

BELGRADE, Serbia-Montenegro - A car that swerved into the Serbian president's motorcade was a case of road rage, not an assassination attempt, officials said, and the U.S. Embassy expressed regret Thursday that one of its employees was the angry driver behind the wheel.


The incident Tuesday was initially described by President Boris Tadic's office as an apparent attempt on his life because of his pro-Western policies.


But Serbia's Interior Minister Dragan Jocic said late Wednesday that the president's motorcade had been involved in a traffic accident with a car driven by a Serb security guard employed by the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade.
