US Drops effort for treaty banning cloning
New York Times

Amazing. We force Costa Rica to offer UN legislation that would ban cloning research world wide.

After a long, nasty, threat-filled campaign, the US declared that it was withdrawing from the battle. the final tally?

US and Costa Rica against the rest of the world.

(we will see a lot of this in the future)
Now watch the creationist senators try to pull some stunt in congress along these lines.

1. Well it is somewhat refreshing.
To know that most of the rest of the world actually see the benefit to humankind with this research. Though I'm sure the Bush Reich is already well on their way to finding out how their pharmaceutical businesses can turn this research into a money making machine for them.

3. Costa Rica just dropped out of the Coalition of the Willing, last month
Maybe they're spearheading Bush's cloning ban is because they shafted him on their withdrawal of support for his Iraq invasion.

5. Good god, has our clout fallen to an all time low, even in
spite of the fact that the US and the 700 Club and PTL is
pushing this anti-science stance around the world, the only
arm we could twist is Costa Rica. Looks like bush and
his supporters are out of touch with the world. Here
57 million people voted for bush while 60 billion people
around the world hate him for the ignorant terrorist christian
fundamentalist he is.
