THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

DENVER -- Records containing personal information on more than 150,000 voters are missing at city election offices, and officials are trying to determine if the files were lost, moved or stolen.

The Denver Election Commission is also trying to figure out why officials didn't learn the records were missing until June 1, even though they are believed to have disappeared nearly four months earlier.

"We will get to the bottom of it," commission spokesman Alton Dillard told the Rocky Mountain News in Saturday's editions.

Dillard said top officials of the commission are trying to determine whether lower-ranking staff knew about the situation before last week.

2. rumple, You're so demanding...150,000 voter records! Geez K&R
:sarcasm:

A record here, a record there, who will notice. Only 1/2 of them voted probably, so that's a plus. And the other half probably divided their votes. They won't be missed in terms of deciding elections.

Next you'll demand that election officials actually produce some evidence, lacking to this point, of a quality assurance program.

Why do you hate inefficiency! It provides employment to consultants, and that's a good thing.

5. Actually, it's getting around.

Just googled; voter records denver

Over 100 hits.

What I'm getting is that the records were old. As such, will it affect voting?

6. Unless the data was not updated or transferred
it may be an issue of identity security.

But good that it is going around. Thanks

Personal information on 150,000 voters disappears from Denver office

DENVER -

Records containing personal information on more than 150-thousand Denver voters
are missing at city elections offices.
Officials are trying to figure out if the files were lost, stolen or simply moved.

The Denver Election Commission is also trying to figure our why officials didn't
learn the records were missing for nearly four months.

The microfilmed voter registration files from 1989 to 1998 were in a 500-pound cabinet
that disappeared when the commission moved to new offices in February.
The files contain voters' Social Security numbers, addresses and other personal information.

Also missing is a box with cards signed by voters who cast early ballots.
The cards contain names, birth dates, addresses and partial Social Security numbers.
