2. As a Buckeye, I'm embarassed
According to MSNBC 20% of white Ohio voters said race was a factor and an overwhelming number of these voted for Clinton.

16. How many polls and exit polls have NOT asked that question?

Unless you're just ready to slip the old race card into an Ohio loss.

It doesn't make any sense.

8. I Have Clients In Ohio And Am There A Couple Of Times A Month.....
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 08:50 PM by global1
Ohioans are weird. I really don't understand them. Even the liberals are conservative. A lot of rednecks and backwards thinking people. Not very progressive. I sit back and think that Ohioans don't really represent the majority of the American people. Ohioans are a people amongst themselves. If HRC wins Ohio - I really don't know that it speaks for the rest of the country. Now I know that I'll probably hear that those that don't win Ohio - don't win the presidency.

I look at these exit poll results that MSNBC is reporting. With the way the weather was there today - I would think that HRC's cohort might not come out to vote. Obama - with a younger following - might still surprise us. Lot of colleges in Ohio. Obama had a really strong GOTV ground game. I hoping that though the poll numbers look strong for HRC 80% of 3000 voters is 2400 votes. But 50% of 10,000 people is 5000 votes.

10. That Gets Noted In Every State
And there's a little more to it. If you keep reading in, people who were more concerned about the economy and health care above all went for Hillary. People who were more concerned about Iraq went for Obama.

And it's really not fair to call the 61% of white people who did not vote for Obama racists if you aren't also going to call the 91% of black people who did, as well.

28. Drove Through Once
And no I'm not surprised, because I've seen it in upstate NY and here in TN and in Georgia, too.

I know one thing: the more "out" it is, the easier it is to address, the easier it is to know if you're dealing with someone with an attitude - regardless of which way it goes. And it usually goes more than one way.

12. That seems to be the only thing that explains such a large
lead for Clinton... They both have pretty much the same policy towards
Nafta.

What a shame...but racism is not isolated to the South...never was.

15. Huh?
What's wrong with that? There's been huge discussion about how either candidate does with different minorities. They get those numbers from exit polls and other polls that ask about race.

I don't get the fake outrage.

22. But what's the objection?
It's asked in EVERY state. Remember all the discussions of how well or or how poorly each candidate did among african-americans or latinos?

I honestly don't understand what upsets you about this.

26. The objection is due to the high number of...
people who said it mattered. I lived most of my life in Ohio, and this is part of the reason I found it so easy to leave, after living there the better part of 38 years. The sad part is that the job problems encourage the racism, and you get the feeling that politicians encourage it too.

23. And so, does that mean that you're a racist
if you don't like Obama and don't vote for him? Or could it be that you are intelligent enough to recognize an empty suit when you see one?

You see, you can't win.......you are called a racist no matter what. Thanks Obama.

:)

It's the gleeful reporting of the "inside the numbers" reporting that's disgusting..

our woeful media wants division, and apparently desperation in campaigns les the Clintons to oblige them..

30. It doesn't mean you're a racist if you don't support Obama
But if race is a deciding factor (for or against a candidate), then you probably start to look like one. That's the point of this thread.

If you don't support Obama because you don't like him as a candidate, or you don't like his positions on issues, those are valid reasons to not vote for him. However, if you won't vote for him simply because he's black (or you vote for him only because he's black), then that's a problem.

And just so we're clear, if you don't support Clinton because you don't like her as a candidate, or you don't like her positions on issues, those are valid reasons to not vote for her. However, if you won't vote for her simply because she's a woman (or you vote for her only because she's woman), then that's a problem, too.
