Watching Chuck - I Flipped To MSNBC During A Commercial - Did Anybody Else Hear Whispering When.....

Russert asked Romney a question about Social Security - just before Romney began to answer - I heard someone whisper - "raise taxes" and then the next words out of Romney's mouth he had said something to the effect of not 'raising taxes'.

The whisper thing threw me - I distinctly heard that just before he answered. What was that?

would raise hell if Mitt had a coach on the sidelines feeding him lines. Unless they were doing it too?

This sounded like an actual whisper that got picked up by a microphone, unlike those hilarious Bush videos where his radio signal gets picked up by the local PA system and you can hear what they are telling him.

The candidates are really far from the audience and other people, so it seems really unlikely they would be able to hear a whisper, but Mitt has a reaction like he heard it. I'm guessing that his coach was in the audience, and one of the mics happened to catch him whispering into his radio prompter. I've been to see live TV shows like The Daily Show get taped, and they put microphones out over the audience to get crowd reactions (laughter, applause, etc.). Maybe one of these picked up the whisper?
