Frank Luntz (Repub Pollster) says bush in trouble
http://www.indiadaily.com/editorial/10-15b-04.asp

Frank Luntz, the top Republican pollster wrote in the Financial Times: "Step by step, debate-by-debate, John Kerry has addressed and removed many remaining doubts among uncommitted voters. My own polling research after each debate suggests a rather bleak outlook for the Bush candidacy: many who still claim to be 'undecided' are in fact leaning to Mr. Kerry and are about ready to commit." In a world where the spinmeisters constantly claim that their horse can not only walk on water, but also trot and gallop on it, having a top GOP strategist with access to real data say his horse is sinking fast is ominous for the Bush campaign.

15. Mary Cheney is a lesbian. There, I said it. Does that make me a bad guy?
1-It's the truth
2-It's been mentioned several times, by several politicans (some mentioned in a negative context).
3-She is well out of the closet.
4-She is maybe the most well known gay person of this political season.

What really is the issue here? I just don't see it.

17. And didn't the Cheneys use her when it benefitted them politically?
There is no issue here other than desperate Ruthuglican spinning.

22. What's the big deal with the lesbian thing?
I love lesbians. Hell, I love the female form so much that if I were a female, I'd BE a lesbian.

27. Reminds me: I went to a transvestite show with a girlfriend
from work who is gay and the guys looked so much like women, and really good looking women, that my friend said "God, these guys are making me think maybe I should go straight". ha It was really a hoot.

30. Homosexuality is acceptable.
There I said it a heterosexual male. If you are a gay male or a lesbian as consenting adults there should be no stigma.

Sexual promiscuity with either a heterosexual or homosexual orientation can be a serious problem.

Pedophiles of either sexual orientation are a serious problem.

28. Yeah.
I was canvassing today and ran into people who said they were leaning Kerry until Thursday when Kerry said that awful thing about someones daughter. I suspect they only changed their mind following watching CNN, But it has worked to some degree.

6. Mary Cheney shouldn't have picked her head up out of the sand.
She can bury it back in next to her ostrich and pretend she doesn't exist.

Few GLBT folk were stupid enough to believe her last time.

I doubt anybody will be this time.

9. I don't know if I would trust Luntz right now
Since being removed from MSNBC, he may be trying to convince people he's not strongly biased in his methods but is in fact objective. It would be in the interest of his career to give this impression at this point in time.

25. I have been complaining about him
...to MSNBC since the GORE election. No one was happier than I was to see that bastard gone. I think you have hit the real, raw nerve--he knows that he is fucked, totally, if weewee loses. Because if weewee loses, that is a portent of the country's mood, and suggests that the GOP will have trouble in the house and the senate as well, if not this cycle, then two years hence. He'll not be able to find a job, and he has to try to head for middle ground in an effort to "prove" that he can play both sides of the street.

IMHO, he can fuggedaboutit. He is an irredeemable shill who has prostituted his rather limited talents. All you have to do is look at the footage of the way he pushes his so-called groups of "undecideds"--it looks like an indoctrination class!

10. Luntz Is Also Seeing The Ground Game
He's doing his focus groups and seeing/hearing people who aren't being reached on the phones or yanked from existing voter roles. He's traveling the towns and rubbing elbows. Yes, it's very ominous, but I felt this was starting to happen.

There isn't an issue that a majority of people feel Kerry can't handle (and the specific issue polls are indicating that), and, in some cases, Kerry now has leads in key area where Bunnypants thought they would run away and hide: national security. That security mom crap was just that...nothing more than redressing the freeper women as a voting bloc.

Bunnypants is no longer running against Kerry, he's running against the news cycle and himself...they can keep throwing distractions (and if you think REAL people don't see through this, turn off the cable and take a walk)...the more they do, the more desperate they will become. But how many times can one cry foul or cry wolf. They're gonna have to do a lot of this over the next two weeks and the dirtier this campaign gets the more demoralized their side gets when they see Kerry still standing.

Remember, this is a marathon...Bunnypants tried to sprint way ahead at the 3/4 poll (the convention) and has been tiring ever since. There's few votes to sway with this Mary Chenney crap and they'll find another "outrage" or diversion as the numbers and news gets worse.

Hang tough...we knew this regime wouldn't go down easy and we have to keep steady. We're working for the future...they're running from their past.

13. Is John Kerry is the strongest Presidential candidate since FDR?
I can't wait to cast my vote for John Kerry. That's not because I hate Bush, but because I think Kerry is the best Presidential candidate to come along in a long, long time. I'm not the only one - the more people hear him, the more his ratings go up.

But more importantly, this has nothing to do with his positions on issues...it's because he seems to know in his gut what's right and can be TRUSTED to stand up and defend what's right. This is almost a non-existent quality in modern politicians.

I predict right now that I think he'll become one of the best presidents in our nation's history.

20. Not Really

I hear what you're saying, but two things - - first of all, your premise assumes that their base needs rallying, which is a good thing for us. Secondly, writing or being quoted in the Financial Times is not really a good way to reach the Rethuglican base that they're currently worried about.
