Switch a famous movie role with a wholly inappropriate actor
Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 10:56 PM by Rabrrrrrr
Meaning, replace an actor in a famous role with an actor/actress who will play that role in a way they normally act, in order to elicit a very hilarious and bizarre movie.

I am sittin' here watching Star Wars, and thinking:

If David Spade had played Obi Wan instead of Sir Alec Guinness

Assuming that Spade played the role in his typical snide, sarcastic, deliciously ironic delivery.

And then I realized that, withing the Star Wars milieu, any of these would be funny:

David Spade as Darth Vader
David Spade as Han Solo
David Spade as Chewbacca

(or even imagine this: Star Wars as done by the cast of Seinfeld, with appropriate rewrite of the story to fit their personalities! Christ, that would be hilarious!)

And then I thought of some others:

Jack Palance as Rick in "Casablanca"

Pauly Shore as Batman

Katherine Hepburn - the old, post On Golden Pond version - in the role of Molly Ringwald in "Breakfast Club"

Orson Welles as the professor in Back to the Future

Roseanne Barr replacing Charlton Heston in "Planet of the Apes" (oh, yeah, like, goddamn you to, you know, hell and everything)

The guy who played Kramer as Citizen Kane

85. You know, I bet Randall could have pulled it off.
Not as well, but he was a fuckin' good actor.

Unless you mean as his odd couple role, in which case that would be hilarious!

John Wayne actually got the role. Unfortunately, he was just as bad.

How about Madonna in any role?

:headbang:

P.S. Did you know that Marliyn Monroe was considered for Holly Golightly?

And gave a briliant performance as General Patton. Much better than Freddie Prinze, Jr, to say the least.

My mom remembers seeing that movie with her uncle and brother, both of who have since passed on, sigh. I have it, its a great movie, I came to admire Omar Bradley a lot after seeing it.

Scott didn't identify with Patton, that's for sure. It's a very good performance in a very good film.

108. How's about
Martin Short as General Robert E Lee in the Ted Turner epic "Gods and Generals."

The scene is the Cracker Barrell conference.

It's the middle of the night and JEB Stuart has just reported in that the federal right flank is in the air.

General Stonewall Jackson proposes a 15 mile march to the federal flank where he will hit the union with his entire corps while Lee holds the whole Army of the Potomac off with a skeleton army.

General Jackson asks the question. Can I march right now with my whole force away from Richmond to strike from the flank?

Martin Short as General Lee answers. "Well, it's funny that you should ask me that."
