Do you have ghost scents at your house?

We have two; both have persisted for the 13 years we've lived in the house

At the bottom of the attic steps there is sometimes a musty old-person smell. The attic doesn't smell like this and neither does the bedroom below. The stairs are varnished wood with nothing to hold the smell. You never smell it going UP the stairs but when you come down from the attic, you often get a good whiff of it right at the bottom of the stairs.

In our living room you often catch, just for a moment, the oily sweet scent of gardenias. Definitely gardenias and strong, too. Never found anything to cause it.

I've always wanted to live in a haunted house. Do you suppose...?

2. I've posted about this before

in '88 and '89 we had frequent occurrances of the sweet smell of perfume show up randomly in our house....once it showed up on the and handset of a telephone as a thick, sticky substance....nothing now for over 15 years........still wonder what the hell it was.
