Rumormill Clark to get 30-40 US Congressional endorsements
CNN reported that it had unsupported claims that Clark is getting 30-40 endorsements from members of US Congress tommorrow.

If this is true, I think it would bring him up as a front runner. Maybe well above the others.

2. The operative word here is "unsupported"
That is not journalism. It is rumor mongering. Have we learned nothing about the workings of the "liberal media" since Whitewater, Monica-gate and Ken Starr?

13. It isn't entirely unsupported
It was a claim by Arkansas Congressman Marion Berry. They are only reporting that that is what he said. A lot of what happens on Capitol Hill is rumors and if the media didn't report those rumors they wouldn't have much to report on.

3. if true
yes it would make him the leader in super delegates. I posted this on another page but worth posting here as well. I expect Clark to get lots of congressional endorsements. Why? The dems are so scared about national security. In 2002, the answer for some of them was to vote to give Bush authority to wage a unethical war. That is backfiring on Bush--and some Dem contenders--so now, the answer to congressional dems is to support someone who opposed the war, but because he is a General--he has good national security credentials.

4. Quite frankly, the more Congressional support he gets, the less I like him
Smacks of insider shit--the Dems in Congress are 99% a bunch of bending-over, spineless wimps! If Clark is going to run a campaign that relies heavily on those wusses, he will die a quick death in the polls.

Face it, people are ANGRY not only at Dumbo, but at the Dems wimpiness!

6. the more I hear
since his announcement is that he is the insiders candidate. The Clintons apparently want him, congressional leaders appear to be moving towards him--this is all fine and good, but it doesn't necessarily make him the outsider I think he wants to be preceived as.

7. You are outside most Democrats
When a member of Congress endorses a candidate, the Democrats in that district will usually back that candidate if they are undecided. Most Democrats, about 2/3, are undecided.

5. Funny, I thought traction on the hill was about the economy
There is no doubt that the $87b will pass. There is no doubt the War on Terror will be allowed to continue.

"We believe in all the things the Republicans do about security"
Sounds more like an endorsement of the current administration than it does a call for a policy that distinguishes and promotes democratic values

10. i'll be surprised if it's true
if the congress folks are smart, they'll wait to see how much traction Clark can get on his own, before committing themselves. the man has NO political track record. he wasn't even on record as a democrat, until a couple weeks ago. he hasn't been out there campaigning, shaking hands, kissing babies, raising money, eating hot dogs, and ... debating. no one has seen him go head to head with the other candidates. it seems way too early for a large endorsement of Clark.

it would stink if he got a bunch of endorsements this early, with so little known about him. for that reason, i'm going to stick my neck out and say, "i don't believe it."

is that a reasonable prediction or just wishful thinking? i guess tomorrow we'll see.

8. why are we still subjected to these unsupported rumors?
now that Clark has announced, why can't we get real news? or is the entire Clark candidacy to be run on rumors?

9. I Believe This Rumor
I also know that many people here will try to spin this as a negative. It's already happening.

Sometimes I think DU is like Bizarro-World.
