Is McCain asking for an independent investigation that includes looking into how the WH used the intelligence? I think he wants the investigation to be limited to scrutinizing the CIA and leaving the WH alone.

even that would actually help us in the short-term. The point is to keep the issue alive.

Also, I think if there are enough repubs calling for an investigation, the democrats on the Hill will _not_ allow the investigation to lay off Bush. And neither will the candidates.

This is fuel for the fire no matter what they do with it now. It's bad press for Bush.

7. Snowe? She was here last week visiting the senior centers

touting how wonderful the new medicare bill of Bush was just the thing they needed and should be grateful for. I wondered how she took the news that the budget for this Medicare fiasco has, after Bush signed it, gone up by one third. She may be annoyed that she stuck herself out in the forefront for this bill. She is now responsible for being skunked also by her master. I think she may be vulnerable, but no way is this woman going to take a stand out of the mainstream. And neither is her sister , joined at the hip, Collins. Do not depend upon either of them. Collins got lots of money and lots of photo ops with Bush last election. She is loyal, and su-pported the war. Why she even visited Iraq and came back with shocking news re mass graves.

I think that Snowe will be outa there, but then that may be wishful thinking. She is rather a stick or stuck in the mud and is losing her energy fast. Not very creative, nor innovative, nor inclined to take risks--same for the Bobsey twin.

13. One thing Snowe

has on her side is seniority. That is one of the main reasons she keeps gettign voted back into office, I think.

Wanted Collins out really bad, though, and Pingree in. I don't like the fact that we have two repubs in the Senate. I can live with one, but not two.
