Reuters: Poll shows Arabs dislike Bush
Poll shows Arabs dislike Bush

By Carol Giacomo
Reuters
Thursday, February 8, 2007; 10:24 PM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A new poll on Thursday underscored deep Arab unhappiness
with the United States but said the negative image could be repaired if Washington
brokered a comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace agreement.

The survey of 3,850 people in six Arab countries rated President George W. Bush
as the most disliked world leader, while the United States and Israel were viewed
as significantly greater threats than Iran.

Sixty-seven percent of the respondents said the United States could improve its image
by brokering a comprehensive Middle East peace agreement.

A smaller number -- 33 percent -- said this image change could happen if Washington
withdrew its troops from Iraq.

Based on face-to-face interviews conducted for the Saban Center by the Zogby
International polling firm last November and December, attitudes were surveyed in Egypt,
Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and United Arab Emirates.

Sharon and Olmert put together though.

Respondents were asked to identify which world leader outside of their own country they disliked most.

Bush was named by 38 percent, former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon by 11 percent, current Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert by 7 percent and British Prime Minister Tony Blair by 3 percent.

... you know, the moronic xenophobe knee-jerk Republican kind of mind -- news that some furriners off in a distant land some place really, really hate our president means that he's doing exactly the right things. And conversely, an American leader who isn't reviled means "oh noes, appeaser! Neville Chamberlain!!!"

19. Living in an Arab country, my own poll agrees...
Edited on Fri Feb-09-07 12:29 AM by onager
I've been living and working in Egypt for nearly 2 years. I talk to a lot of Egyptians, from many different walks of life, and I've never found anyone who likes Dumbya even a little bit.

A favorite incident: one day I was hanging around a little farm village near the Nile Delta. Some of my Egyptian co-workers liked to stop at a butcher shop there on the way home from work. Most of the local people knew I was an American and had gotten used to seeing me.

An Egyptian man, who looked pretty angry, stalked up to me making the "thumbs-down" gesture and repeating: "George Boosh no good!"

I agreed with him that Mr. Boosh was indeed dumber than a homar (donkey), though considerably lazier and less useful.

Then the Egyptian smiled, made a "thumbs-up" gesture, and said: "Bill Clinton mea-mea!" "Mea-mea" is colloquial Arabic slang meaning "100 per cent" or "very, very good."

Edited on Fri Feb-09-07 05:28 AM by tom_paine
The ONLY ones who approve of him still are the state criminals around the world, tyrants who's cause has been aided by America becoming Amerika, and no longer a force to work against them by being a "becaon of freedom" (relatively speaking), and the 30% of people who really would have made wonderful Germans, circa 1939...mouth-breathers and witch-burners, scared bunnies and the weak minded.

Consider that...Six Billion people one Earth and Bush is hated by a third and disliked by nearly all the rest.

Actually the Caledonians. Technically I guess they weren't Scots as there was no Scotland. Which came first, the Scots or Scotland?

38. Apparently the Picts and Scots together made up Scotland after Kenneth I.
became king of both the Picts and the Scots.

Cined mac Ailpn (after 80013 February 858) (Anglicised Kenneth MacAlpin) was king of the Picts and, according to national myth, first king of Scots.
