Bush ties may be mixed gift in 7th CD (R tries to hug/run away from gwb)

I lived in this district when Beauprez was elected by a lousy 121 votes. This is one of the mid 90's districts that was redrawn for repub benefit.
Now that Beauprez is running for gov, Dems are looking to get the seat.
The district is evenly divided with Dems, repubs and unaffiliated voters.
This repub wants to have his cake and eat it, too. He takes the fund-raising $$$ and then tries to appear completely independent of gwb. The Dem candidate, Perlmutter, should have a field day with this guy. Here's hoping.
BTW, it's short, well written article.

During the past eight months, Republican congressional candidate Rick O'Donnell has raised $1.9 million, thanks in part to President Bush and officials from his administration.
But as he heads into the homestretch of one of the most competitive congressional races in the country, O'Donnell doesn't want voters to think he suffers from blind loyalty.
In Colorado, a recent photo of Bush and O'Donnell coming off Air Force One is expected to show up in ads in the next three months as Perlmutter tries to paint the two as one and the same.
He has also come under fire for an essay he wrote 11 years ago advocating the end of Social Security, calling it "un-American" - a position he has since disavowed.
flip flop anyone? All of sudden, he's a passionate supporter of preserving Social Security.
6. I suppose they'll be calling the March of Dimes "un-American" next
It really does boggle the mind, doesn't it. Some of America's most-copied accomplishments of the 20th century (when one looks at what other countries around the world have attempted to emulate) -- such as Social Security, the Peace Corps, and the Environmental Protection Agency -- and these fools are trash-talking them.
