would be able to see and relate to these numbers on POSITIONS. Yet I'm still hearing austerity and sacrifice for the "rest of us" EVEN FROM A LOT OF THE NATIONAL DEMS.

I personally believe that this is where a lot of the frustration with the national Dems including Obama, on DU and elsewhere, is coming from. These "leftish" (a term I'm using to differentiate between TRUE left wing positions and the "pragmatic", relativistist ones like these) positions are not only closer to the positions of the TRUE left, but ARE ALSO POPULAR WITH THE PUBLIC. But the national Dems, mostly, don't come out hard and stormy for these positions. They pay lip service, then go back to compromising even these moderate and POPULAR positions away to the RW. It's frustrating and anybody whose surprised at the pushback must not be paying attention.
