Metal detectors to detect weapons. Knives, guns or other weapons. That was the head-scratcher for me on 9/11.

In the early 70's we had a number of Cuban "Sky-jacking" (can't recall how many incidences at the moment- not that many but enough) which set the metal detector along with rules and regs of what isn't allowed when boarding. The knives should have been detected and confiscated with the system we had in place at the time.
