26. Actually, I disagree with several of your points.
In a free society/market, there are always a multiplicity of ways in which to demand fair treatment. Quitting or finding another temp job are two, but you can also approach your on-the-job supervisor. You can talk with the temp company rep with whom you are dealing. Probably other ways I can't think of at the moment.

And when the economy is hot and your skills are good (as was the case for me in the mid-90's when I did long-term temping in Chicago), none of the companies who are contracting for your services wants to see you leave, they are always offering you a permanent job (yes, with paid vacation, sick leave and the full raft of benefits) and you can be choosy about where to work.

I understand your concern about companies overusing temps in lieu of hiring permanent people, but the problem with that, normally, is that if the temps you like are any good, and you drag your feet too long, they leave for permanent jobs elsewhere - making it essential that you re-train someone new, whose character you know little about, yadda yadda.

I know right now, it's not a good time to do temp-to-perm, so I sympathize. :hi: Hang in there.
