Someone reported on an unconfirmed rumor and it was quickly shot down (shot down before you even started complaining about the rumor, I might add).

Not sure why you got your panties in a twist over it. Seems like the internet worked exactly as it should in this case. Blogs can be excellent news sources. Compare the time it took FDL to correct this rumor to the time it took NYT to shut down Judy Miller, for example.
