23. I don't think that college students should be reading
Young Adult level literature. I have read these books as I have a teenager and teenage nieces and nephews. They and their friends conversed quite a bit about these stories although the boys hate the books with an unmitigated passion. My niece was gaga for the series.

I found them to be pablum. There was little character development and that "nothing but bored" vacuous expression on the actress that plays the main character's face in the movie? Because there is no animation or depth to the character. It's stupid.

I'm certain that maybe some more adult level prose could have been assigned. There are better pop fiction vampire themed stories that one can purchase in a drugstore. Anne Rice's books on the subject are much better; even Whitley Streiber's book on Vampires is an improvement.
