Frankly, I haven't seen people on the left say "the dumb, spineless, stupid, black guy doesn't know what he's doing". So, in order to begin to discuss Deaniac83's thoughts with him, I'd have to accept his premise that things like that were actually said. And if they were said, I'd want to know exactly who said them. I'd probably question that they were the kind of lefty I know.

So, this was a stretch for me.

What I deduce is that I can agree with the president and there's no problem. But if I disagree with his policies then for some it probably becomes personal. Maybe there's no way to disagree in public and not offend people.

So be it. I still embrace Al Franken's philosophy about the country. He treats the nation like he's the adult. When it's going in the right direction, he applauds, encourages and supports it. But when it's going in what he feels is the wrong direction he speaks up because it's his not only his right but his deep obligation.

Btw, the most vocal left leaning individual in the news lately is Bernie Sanders. In all 9 hours of his talk on the floor of the house I didn't hear him even vaguely imply , "the dumb, spineless, stupid, black guy doesn't know what he's doing".

I rest my case.
