Misconduct alleged against Secret Service agents

By JULIE PACE and FRANK BAJAK
Associated Press

CARTAGENA, Colombia (AP) -- CARTAGENA, Colombia (AP) - A dozen Secret Service agents sent to Colombia to provide security for President Barack Obama at an international summit have been relieved of duty over alleged misconduct.

A caller who said he had knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press the misconduct involved prostitutes in Cartagena, site of the Summit of the Americas. A Secret Service spokesman did not dispute that.

The incident threatened to overshadow Obama's economic and trade agenda at the summit and embarrass the U.S. The White House had no comment, but also did not dispute the allegations.

The Washington Post reported that Jon Adler, president of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, said the accusations related to at least one agent having involvement with prostitutes in Cartagena. The association represents federal law enforcement officers, including the Secret Service.

Wait, what? They have a union?

One of the anonymous sources said 12 agents were involved, but the Secret Service would not confirm the number of agents.

They say this happened before the President's arrival, so it did not compromise security. Really? If the purpose of the Secret Service advance team is not enhancing and planning for the President's security before he arrives, what the hell is the purpose of sending an advance team?

If you are supposed to check out the route, the quarters where the President will stay, etc. for potential problem, being distracted by local prostitutes is not an issue?

Mind you, these questions rose immediately in my mind, but the story never raises them. The statement that the President's security was not affected seems to have been accepted as gospel and passed on to us sheeple readers.

God forbid we "cast asparagus" on the veracity of anyone speaking in defense of law enforcement. Carrying a gun means you is good peoples.

Ms. Pace and Mr. Bajak, you should be hanging your heads in shame, pretending you are journalists.
