What does TIME Magazine REALLY think of Americans?

Jon Stewart of the Daily Show did a segment on this.

As you will no doubt recall--and Stewart recently reminded us-- the people themselves were Time Magazine's Person of the Year in the last days of 2011.

Supposedly, the American OWS/99% movement was part of the reason for that, along with the Arab Spring movements.

So, one would think that TIME has a healthy respect for Americans--who, by the way--gave TIME and Newseek their millions originally.

However, Jon held up three issues of Time for various international locations, all showing on the cover the new Italian prime minister--and one from the U.S. for the very same period featuring on the cover a fluff piece.

Ditto another issue where the rest of the world got an edition with the anniversary of the Arab Spring as the cover story, while the U.S. got one featuring on the cover the division of chores between men and women.

Sure, you can posit that Americans just would not buy an issue with the Arab Spring as the cover story.

But, what happened to Americans between the time when they made TIME rich and today to make Americans so trifling in the eyes of TIME?
