3. ECT is not 'torture' - it is an accepted treatment for severe depression that is not responsive
to drug therapy. Removing it from the treatment arsenal of psychiatrists would be a dire mistake. That said, I do not know whether it has ever been approved for children with treatment-resistant severe depression.
