tho the glaciers begdan to melt in the 1940's -- and scientists were aware of the
harmful effects of "bus-i-ness" on our environment, especially trees, much earlier
than 1957 when they began telling us of Global Warming.
Scientists in the late 1880's recognized the damage being done to nature.
Industrial Revolution and the build up for WWII were two periods which caused great
damage to the environment. And we have long known that we have to stop burning
fossil fuels.
Needless to say, when we got the first warnings in the late 1950's and during the JFK
administration there was time to plan to react and STOP the damaging behavior.
Right now, imo, we need to be thinking about shutting down our nuclear reactors --
103 across the US -- basically two in every state. And it takes six months to properly
shut down a reactor -- and that doesn't include proper disposal of the WASTE!
Capitalism is certainly an evil -- and its exploitation of nature and humans is deadly.
