| 93. if you boil it down to that alone, I guess it would depend on the appointment |

Kagan or Sotomayor, maybe. I'll know better after Justice Ginsburg retires. But, they're a done deal anyway.
A Sunstein or a Holder? Probably not. A Deval Patrick? Maybe.
Yes, like many I know, I am very disappointed as to very many issues re: foreign policy and on the corporate, er, domestic front as well.
Are the differences on some issues marginal, perhaps illusory? Yes, IMO, they are. If that is all there is, is that enough? Every Democrat will ask himself or herself that question next year.
However, I would not boil it all down to only the Supreme Court nomination(s) that may come up in the next four years alone.
For example, I don't know if a Republican would have gotten rid of DADT, however slowly, or announce that his thinking had "evolved" as to DOMA. And Chaplains are marrying GLBT members of the military, which is going to make things very interesting under the Supremacy Clause if their states refuse to recognize their marriages when they go home.
Maybe not as far or as fast as we'd like, but it ain't nothing, either. Equal human rights for all humans, regardless of color, race, national origin, religion, orientation, etc. has been my number 1 issue all my life, so I admit I am a sucker on that issue.
And that is a difference on only GLBT rights.
