As we're seeing with the destruction of the school diversity policy in Wake County, not all "well educated folks from the North" are Democrats. I brought my raging liberal ways with me, but there are a lot of wealthy Republican country clubbers retiring to this state.
Yes, there are pockets of blue, but during the 2010 mid-terms, it did not get better. Obama won NARROWLY in 2008; he's got his work cut out for him in 2012, especially if there isn't substantial improvement on the unemployment front. Republicans, at least in Wake County, are incredibly well organized.
