66. Yes they're coming for SS
Just watch, it's been apparent for awhile now. Very few, if any, in the MSM will spin it as anything short of heroic, a post-partisan gutsy attempt at real solutions by an adult. They'll sell the hell out of this idea, and enough of the sheeple will buy into it.

I think it's a new centrist coalition that Obama is building. The corporatists have a script whereby politicians can advocate painful cuts and austerity for the little people, and these politicians will then be presented as adults willing to forsake politics to make necessary but tough decisions about how to fix the situation we're in.

I think their strategy will work for them. With the MSM to carry their water, so-called centrist policies that are just cover stories for fleecing the public will get enough support from Republicans who basically believe in these policies anyway, and Democrats who are gullible enough to think no other path is feasible.

We should be out in the streets right now, waving signs and shouting all we can. As someone else in this thread said, if SS cuts are suggested in the SOTU it will be much more difficult to stop it. And who would stop it? The House will support it, the Senate probably will too, and the POTUS seems fully on-board, perhaps he's even driving this train. It's up to us, and that's not very encouraging.
