39. My 2 cents
I've had police shove their guns in my face before, the only reason I can fathom is for being in a car with two black guys at night. I've seen my friends assaulted by the police. I personally have been harassed multiple times by the police. I strongly believe that if I were not white, I'd be in prison or dead, thanks to the police, even though I've never done anything wrong. I can only speak from experience, and in my experience, it's hard to sympathize with dead police officers when they've done everything they can to make sure you view them as the enemy your entire life.
