Of course, someone like Taibbi would think he knows more about monetary policy and the labor market than, say, labor economist Peter Diamond.

But I think more is going on here. Articles like these show that for people like Taibbi, who would like nothing more than for Obama to lose, the mask is starting to come off. Their excuse in the past ("I know my actions will elect a far right government, but I'm really just playing 11 dimensional chess and hoping the collapse comes sooner") is disintegrating. When all as said and done, this "progressive-er than thou" pretext for moving the country far to the right will be exposed, and all that will be left is the inescapable conclusion that people like him prefer Republicans in the first place.
