149. who says they were "trusted" until 2000?
What does that mean? Some people still trust exit polls; some people never did.

Empirically, the exit poll discrepancies in 2000 were a lot smaller than the exit poll discrepancies in 1992. Why does no one ever say "exit polls used to be 'trusted' until 1992"?

It makes no sense to try to infer anything from exit polls over the years if you don't even know what they said -- and it isn't clear that you do know. Many people don't. The exit polls become just another talking point that people use to bolster whatever they wanted to say about broken elections. Again, the 2004 New Hampshire exit poll said Kerry won it by 15 points. Makes no sense. If that was a canary, it was on LSD or something.

I'm not trying to talk you into trust in elections. I just don't see how bogus exit poll arguments do anyone any good.
