I just spent almost a month in Iceland. The Icelandic people for the most part speak excellent English. Indeed the Icelandic language is difficult but not impossible to learn if you are there for a while. It is an incredible country and I would move there in a minute if I could. Yes, the climate and the hazards (earthquakes, volcanoes) make life challenging. The Icelanders are a really "can do" people.
