79. The Supreme Court got something right.
If violent video games caused violence then I would hate to go to Japan. Last time I checked in Japan they play the same violent video games as we do. As a matter of fact they have games that can not be released here in America because the are either too violent or too sexually explicit.
The video game industry is self regulated, the ESRB rates every game that comes to market. It is up to the parents to check the ratings and the content of the games Little Jimmy is playing. All games receives a rating from EC (Early Childhood) to AO (Adults Only). The AO rating is basically a death sentence for a video game because no store will carry an AO game nor will any game system that is currently on the market. Also in most stores the sale of an M rated game to a minor could get the employee fired. When I was working at Toys R US and Gamestop I have seen quite a few people fired for violating company policy.
This is a case of parents needing to do their jobs and monitor what their kids are playing.
