Hotel Detective

A hotel detective is a security guard employed by a hotel. Hotel detectives feature prominently in certain noir fiction, especially in the works of Raymond Chandler, and are sometimes referred to as "House Dicks".

I remember watching an old 1930's movie with our youngest son (he was about 12 at the time), and he howled with laughter every time they said the words "house Dick".

Those "dicks" ran themselves ragged, trying to get "dirt" on people.

With so many people now running around with recording devices , is it any surprise that we have so many "dicks" running around snooping into what others may be doing with their ...um "dicks"?..especially when people will apparently pay money and have fits of apoplexy at the very thought that somewhere "out there" is an unseen celebrity "dick"?
