Why is ok on DU to denigrate the South through misconceptions, ignorance and cheesy stereotypes?

Every time I respond to these ignorant posts I am surprised how many will jump on the subject. If you haven't thought much about how fucking hard it is to be a liberal-progressive in certain areas of the region perhaps you should. The folks we could use for support will drive a stake through our backs. Several years back, 2008, we could have beaten Mitch McConnell but the DNC pulled money out of our Senate race for use elsewhere. Bruce Lunsford lost by less than 6 points. You sometimes get what you do or do not pay for. I am wondering when I will become tomb-stoned for calling these SMALL TENT DEMOCRATS out on this? Regionalism reduces the whole impact of our message much like small minds reduce discourse.
I became politicized in the late '60's in a rural Central Kentucky town and was marching in Washington 40 years ago but I still have to prove my chops to the small minded, immature but clever posters. The next time you think it is clever to joke about dental health in my state understand that a majority of Eastern Kentuckians get water from wells that, of course, have no fluoride.( bear in mind that 60% of these wells are contaminated by mountain top removal).
We fight and die in your Goddamn wars in great numbers and always have. Without the South the dearth in music, literature, and yes, statesmanship would be palpable.

I would hope that the guilty might consider this before making cheap jokes or comments at our expense. I would also hope the DU mods to think about this.
